There died at eight o'clock this morning, John Wilson Parrott, a native of Pembroke, Maine, aged 73 years coming November 16th next. His decease occurred at the residence of his son, Levi Parrott, No. 811 Thirteenth street, this city. The deceased was one of the most unassuming of men, and spent his life honorably, faithfully, and with a quiet dignity that merits the applause too often accorded to vain titles and fictitious worth.

At the age of 25 he was married in Lubec, Maine, to an estimable lady, who survives him. In 1848 they removed to Portland, where until the Centennial year they continued to reside. High on the list of gallant comrades of the Grand Army of the Republic are enrolled the names of more than ole (sic) descendant of John Wilson Parrott. Ten years since he came to Oakland, where up to a week ago he has quietly pursued the even tenor of his way, making many friends and unostentatiously following the honorable path of duty marked out by himself in the years of his youth.

He was the father of Mrs. Mariner, of Seventeenth street, this city; of Albin S. Parrott, engineer of the steamer Solano, and resident of Benicia; of Mrs. Weldon of San Francisco; of Mrs. Dodge of Portland, Maine; of Mrs. Stout of this city, and of Albin S. Parrott, the son, at whose residence his decease occurred. The funeral of this estimable man will occur on Saturday from his late residence.

Notes: Mrs. Philena G. (Lena) Bourn, 85, widow of the late James E. (Pop) Bourn, died Sunday in Tracy Community Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. A native of Oakland, Mrs. Bourn spent most of her life there, moving to Tracy in 1944 when her husband retired as a manager of a candy manufacturing firm.

Mr. Bourn, a Spanish-American War veteran, who died in 1966, was active in Tracy Post 1537, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Mrs. Bourn was a longtime office of the VFW auxiliary, serving a number of years as public relations chairman and historian. Mrs. Bourn was also active in Rebekahs and was a past noble grand of Samaria Rebekah Lodge.

The family home was at 427 W. 10th. Mrs. Bourn is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lucy A. Collins of Tracy; a niece, Mrs. Lloyd Hughes of Tracy; and five nephews, Clarence (Buz) Collins of Coer D'Alene, Idaho; and Warter and William Miller and Edward Augden, all of Oakland.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hotchkiss Mortuary. Inurnment services will be private.

Mrs. Parrott died Friday at a local rest home. She was a native of Oakland and is also survived by her husband, John D.; son, C. Dennett, Alameda; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services were held at 11 a.m. today at the Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland, with MacFarlane-Bryant Chapel of Concord directing. Inurment was at the Oakland chapel.

Divorce Decree fro Mrs. E. Parrott
On grounds of extreme cruelty, Judge Percy S. King yesterday granted interlocutory decree of divorce in superior court to Norine A. Parrott from her husband, Everett Parrott.

It also ruled that the plaintiff was to have custody of the pair's minor child and the defendant was to contribute $30 per month to maintenance.

Plaintaiff was represented by Wallace W. Everett, while Wesley Rutherford was attorney for the defendant.

Ray Lynn Parrott, 28, of Pacifica, paid $276 fine and must serve 10 days in jail. He was arrested April 18 in San Anselmo. Parrott had two prior violations in Martinez.
